Jason Rzepka, VP of MTV Public Affairs, DJ’s A Killer Set In My Office
Jason is warming up. He is transforming himself into DJ Applesauce. He’s working through the awkwardness of DJ’ing sans turntables, in my office.
Years ago, Jason and I worked together when he ran press for mtvU and I ran programming. These days, when DJ Applesauce ain’t rockin’ the office that rocks the office, Jason runs MTV’s Pro Social and Public Affairs Department. Mofo gets paid to channel the power of MTV to effect positive change.
Nuff about that. Right about now, to set the mood, I’m popping the cork on an extremely old bottle of white wine (I stole) from Tony DiSanto‘s office. That’s right, Jason & I are about to start us some serious dixie cup sippin’. (Notice, if you will, how Jason calls me brosef.)
Uh oh, just when things are getting started, co-worker Dan Caster strolls by for a hello. Hello, Dan…
Jason whips out a little Woodies tribute from 2007 (you can nominate artists for Woodies ’09 right now!), starting with some Saul Williams action, reminding me of the fight between Saul and Matisyahu during sound check (wish we had twitter back then).
Ok, so, you wanna hear the whole set? DJ Applesauce heard ya, and he’s got it all right smack dab here with a Something Burning exclusive…slusive…slusive…

good looking out, Ross! And thanks Smithson. If anybody wants a portable copy of RossMartin-o-matic — though I'm sure Ross would love the bump on his average time spent — it's here:
also, it's worth mentioning that i love vinyl only slightly less than I love my wife — and I've been happily addicted to wax since '95 (http://is.gd/2K7pw).
sorry to report i *don't* dj weddings or bar mitzvahs…but apparently i do dj…conference calls.
beats and love,
