It’s been inspiring to watch the creative evolution of Spike TV’s short-form franchise REAL MEN OF ACTION.
Launched about 3 years ago, it’s led creatively by Spike’s Niels Schuurmans, who in addition to running marketing for Spike, teams up with sponsors like Scion to create original, short-form programming.
MTV Networks Entertainment Group integrated marketing guru Dario Spina, who has been known to craft some pretty pioneering partnerships with sponsors, showed me this recently.
It’s something Niels and his team did with Scion. Incredible production values, great creative, so well made:

wow that's really good, is it a commercial? feels more like somehting i would actually WANT to watch. wish there were more.

i have seen niels' stuff a lot (or at least i think it's him and his team) and really think they do great work. the agency i work at does deals with them a lot and my colleagues always seem into it. no surprise seeing this.

Wish MTV + VH1 did more of this instead of commercials. Why does anyone even make commercials anymore when they could do this in place? Dont get why old media cant stand up from its wheelchair + become MTV again. Reinvent before u die!!!!
